What is Putter Sim Lounge? (First-Timer’s Guide)

Explains the unmanned, daily, 6 AM to 12 AM concept at Putter Sim Lounge. Sets expectations for first-time visitors: no staff, self-service bays, and the complete end-to-end flow from booking to playing to leaving.

Welcome to Putter Sim Lounge — a premium, self-service indoor golf simulator lounge located at 8201 Weston RD, Unit 2, Woodbridge, ON L4L 0J6. We’re open daily, 6 AM to 12 AM and operate as a fully unmanned facility, which means there’s no front desk, no staff greeting you at the door, and no one hovering over your shoulder. Just you, state-of-the-art Foresight Sports simulators, and your game.

This guide walks you through exactly what to expect on your first visit — from booking to walking through the door to hitting your first shot.

How It Works — The Big Picture

Putter Sim Lounge is designed for a seamless, self-service experience:

  1. AlbaPlay handles your booking, payment, and bay access. You’ll create an account, book a bay, and pay online — all before you arrive. You’ll get a text with your door code on the day of your booking.
  2. Foresight Sports powers the simulators with FSX Play software and Falcon launch monitors. Once you’re in your bay and the sim is running, place a ball, pick a course, and play.

Think of it like a high-end, self-serve experience. Everything is designed so you can walk in, play, and walk out without needing to interact with staff at any point.

Before You Arrive

There are a few things you need to take care of before your first visit. Doing these ahead of time means you’ll walk in ready to play — no delays, no confusion.

Create Your AlbaPlay Account

Head to the booking page on our website and create your AlbaPlay account. This is where you’ll manage all your bookings, memberships, and payments going forward. Complete this before your first visit — you won’t be able to book or access a bay without it.

Book a Bay

Once your account is set up, book your bay and time slot. We have two bays:

  • Bay 1 — Our standard simulator bay (14’7″ × 19’8″ sim area), equipped with a Foresight Sports Falcon launch monitor and FSX Play software.
  • Bay 2 (Premium) — Our larger bay (16’6″ × 21’2″ sim area) with everything in Bay 1 plus putting green applications. The full area including seating is 16’6″ × 29’8″.

Both bays accommodate up to 4 guests. Select your bay, pick your date and time, and complete your payment — you’ll receive a booking confirmation by email.

What to Bring

  • Clean indoor golf shoes — We have a shoe rack in the entry vestibule for your outdoor shoes. Metal spikes, boots, and dirty footwear are not permitted — they damage the turf and mats.
  • Your own golf clubs — We strongly encourage bringing your own full set. We do not offer house clubs, so your own equipment is essential.
  • A positive attitude — Seriously, that’s it. We provide the tees (bright blue BIR-TEE rubber tees in various sizes, on the desk) and the technology. Bring your own clubs and new, unmarked golf balls. Just show up ready to play.

Do NOT bring:

  • Metal spikes or outdoor shoes into the bay area
  • Marked, scuffed, or range balls (they throw off launch monitor readings — bring new, unmarked balls)
  • Wooden tees (they damage the impact screen — use the bright blue BIR-TEE rubber tees on the desk)
  • Glass bottles

Arriving at the Facility

When you arrive at 8201 Weston RD, Unit 2, here’s what happens:

Enter the door code from your text message on the keypad next to the front door. The code only works during your booking window.

Swap your shoes at the vestibule shoe rack. Leave your outdoor shoes and put on your clean indoor golf shoes.

Head to your assigned bay. The bay screen may display a SimLock screen until your booking time activates — this is normal. Once your session starts, SimLock clears and you’re free to play.

Interior lights operate on motion detectors, so they’ll come on automatically as you walk in.

Facility hours: 6:00 AM to 12:00 AM daily. The doors are locked outside of these hours.

Playing Your Round

Once your bay is active:

  1. Power on the simulator — press the TOP button on the white light-switch plate to the right of the desktop. The ceiling launch monitor light turns yellow while booting, then blue when ready.
  2. Launch FSX Play — double-click the FSX Play icon on the computer desktop. It will load and connect to the Falcon launch monitor automatically.
  3. Set up your round — choose your course, add players, and configure your settings (wind, mulligans, gimmes, etc.).
  4. Place a ball on the rubber tee or mat, select your club in the software, and swing.

The Foresight Falcon launch monitor tracks everything — ball speed, launch angle, spin rate, carry distance, and more. Your shot data displays on screen after every swing.

Both bays accommodate left-handed and right-handed golfers equally well — no setup changes needed. The Falcon launch monitor watches a large hitting zone above the mat and detects which side you swing from automatically. Place the ball dead center on the hitting mat; right-handed players stand to its left, left-handed players stand to its right. You’ll see a status light on the Falcon and an on-screen indicator in FSX Play confirming the ball is detected and ready.

One habit worth building: when you set up your round in FSX Play, select RH or LH next to your name anyway. It’s not needed for shot tracking, but Bay 2 — Signature Golf Suite (with PuttView) uses that setting to position putts correctly.

If you’ve never swung a golf club before, don’t worry — there are beginner-friendly game modes including closest-to-the-pin, long drive competitions, and mini-games that are perfect for casual players, groups, and kids.

When Your Session Ends

A round of 18 holes takes roughly 1 hour per player as a baseline. When your booked time is up:

  1. Exit your session in FSX Play — return to the home screen so the next group has a clean start.
  2. Clean up — dispose of any trash, wipe down surfaces, and return any house clubs to their rack.
  3. Swap back to your outdoor shoes and exit the building.

If you’re mid-round and want to keep playing, you can extend your session directly through AlbaPlay or via the SimLock screen — as long as the next time slot is open.
