How to Change Course Settings

Adjusting wind, mulligans, gimmes, and green speed.

FSX Play lets you customize your round with various settings to match your skill level and preferences.

Basic Settings

On the pre-round setup screen, you can configure:

  • Holes — Play all 18 or select specific holes. Click a hole number to add or remove it.
  • Scoring — Stroke Play, Stableford, Modified Stableford, Match Play, or Scramble.
  • Green Speed — Adjust how fast the greens play.

Advanced Settings

Click the Advanced icon on the setup screen for more options:

  • Wind — Set wind speed and direction, or enable real-world weather conditions (requires internet).
  • Mulligans — Allow players to retake shots without penalty. Great for casual play.
  • Gimmes — Auto-hole putts within a set distance from the cup. Speeds up play.
  • Practice Mode — When enabled, players can practice any shot during the round without it counting toward their score.
  • Lie Penalty — When enabled, your ball’s lie affects the quality of your next shot.

Note: weather and course condition settings cannot be changed once the round has started. Set them before you tee off.
